SIL & Platform Providers Registration Change (Effective 1 July 2026)
An important change confirmed by the Australian Government will have compliance implications for providers delivering Supported Independent Living (SIL) and platform providers. From 1 July 2026, SIL providers must be registered with the NDIS Quality and Safeguards Commission and meet all applicable quality standards, audit requirements, worker screening and reporting obligations as part of registration. This applies to all providers delivering these funded supports and forms part of broader quality and safety reforms being introduced by the NDIS Commission.
This shift responds to recommendations from the NDIS Review, the Disability Royal Commission and the Provider and Worker Registration Taskforce and aims to strengthen regulatory oversight, improve participant safeguards and ensure high quality in SIL delivery.
More detailed guidance on transition arrangements and expectations will be provided by the NDIS Commission in early 2026. Providers planning to offer SIL supports should begin reviewing their governance, documentation and audit readiness now.
