Understanding the Ndis

What does NDIS Mean?

National: The NDIS is being introduced progressively across all states and territories.

Disability: The NDIS provides support to eligible people with intellectual, physical, sensory, cognitive and psychosocial disability. Early intervention supports can also be provided for eligible people with disability or children with developmental delays.
Insurance: The NDIS gives all Australians peace of mind if their child or a loved one is born with or acquires a permanent and significant disability, they will get the support they need.
Scheme: The NDIS is not a welfare system. The NDIS is designed to help people get the support they need, so their skills and independence improve over time.

NDIS Keywords
1. Permanent and significant disability: A permanent disability means your disability is likely to be lifelong. A significant disability has a substantial impact on your ability to complete everyday activities.

2. Supports and services: Assistance or products that help a person in their daily life and help them participate in the community and reach their goals.

3. Early intervention: Providing support to a person, either a child or an adult, as early as possible to reduce the impacts of disability or developmental delay and to build their skills and independence.

What is Ndis Eligibility?

What is the NDIS Pathway?

The Ndis Pathway is the steps for a participant coming into and remaining in ndis as a participant.

  • Stage 1 - Access
  • Stage 2 - Pre-Planning (Ndis Plan is developed & implemented)
  • Stage 3 - Review (Ndis Plan is reviewed & implemented) is to be started
  • Implementation occurs after Stages 2 & 3. Implementation means the participant receives ndis funding, and services can be started.

What is the difference between a LAC vs Ndis Planner?

NDIS PLANNERS
Ndis Planners are employed directly by the Ndis/Ndia to develop, approve, implement and review ndis plans. Also, to approve quotes

LAC PARTNERS

What Must I Always Remember?

  • Does the client require this product or service for my disability?
  • Will it help the client to achieve NDIS Goal?
  • Is the product or service value for money?
  • Could another service or person assist the client?
  • Have I got the written evidence?
  • NDIS funds the client's support, not expenses.
  • Ndis is not a money-making business for providers.
  • Ndis is an insurance scheme.
