NEW - STA to Short Term Respite

🌿 Short Term Respite — Supporting You and Your Informal Supports

You may have noticed a small but important change — what was once called “short term accommodation” is now known as “short term respite.”

After consulting with participants, families, and carers to understand what this change means to them, Ndis has confirmed a name change and new guidelines. Short term respite gives carers the chance to take a short break from your usual care arrangements while your primary informal supports also have time to rest and recharge. Short term respite is one of the many ways we aim to support participants, families, and carers to maintain balance, connection, and wellbeing.

NDIS had updated "Our Guideline" to make it easier to understand how short term respite works. It now clearly explains:

✅ Who can use short term respite
✅ What’s included
✅ How it works
✅ Where it can be used

📌 More details on the review outcomes, evidence base, and pricing arrangements can be found in the full report on the NDIA website - https://ndis.gov.au/news/10967-short-term-accommodation-now-called-short-term-respite. See attached the new Operational Guidelines!
