Legislation underpinning Registered Providers

What is an Act?

An act outlines your broad responsibilities. The law is made by parliament and is often referred to as an Act of Parliament. Sometimes referred to as a statute or legislation. Acts are pieces of statutory legislation that have been passed by Parliament, which means that they are laws. Breaching an act creates liability enforceable in court.

What is a Regulation?

A regulation sets out specific requirements for particular hazards and risks, such as noise, machinery, manual handling etc.

What is a Guideline or Code of Practice?

A guideline or code of practice provides practical information on how you can meet the requirements of the Act and Regulations.

Registered Providers Responsibility

As a Registered Ndis Provider operating in Australia and in the disability industry, it is your responsibility, legal act and duty of care to be compliant with legislation involving ndis and disability services and support. This involves the initial and ongoing assessment of, implementation of, monitoring of and review of acts, regulations, guidelines, codes of practices, codes of conduct, systems, and processes for the business, clients, employees and industry. Please see attached but not limited to our main legislative requirements for operating as a registered provider.
